This is a very good post I came across by a friend who posted it on Facebook. You have probably noticed that the breast cancer awareness campaign has been going on for the last couple of weeks. I have always had bad feelings about supposedly good causes promoted by marketing campaigns and so I naturally felt sympathetic.
The author does not criticize for its own sake though. She provides alternatives to getting caught up in the hype and reminds us that there is a difference between participating in a fad and actually doing something beneficial.
